Blog Post 2: Prezi-tations

I believe that Prezi is a great tool to use in the classroom. It is even better if you a teaching a room full of visual learners. I myself learn better when things are more visually appealing. I have used prezi many times when I give presentations in class (as a student). Every time I use it fellow students compliment me on my presentation. Although it is a great tool, it is little known. Usually people that use it, use it for professional presentations. Just about every time I use it, I can guarantee that majority of the class has never seen a presentation like it, including the teacher. It’s always a good idea to bring something new to the classroom. It sparks the interest of the students.

Yes this tool is awesome, but it takes a little work to become awesome. When used to the fullest, you could have an amazing presentation. Prezi is not as simple to use as PowerPoint, but the results are priceless. There are many different effects of Prezi that are nonexistent in many other presentation tools including PowerPoint. Prezi has a zooming effect that allows you to zoom in on photos, and other important aspects that need to be highlighted. You also have the option of importing slides from PowerPoint onto your Prezi presentation.

If it is your first time using this tool, and you are not fully comfortable doing so, there are options. On Prezi’s website, they have webinars and videos specifically for people who need the extra assistance. There are steps that can be followed to carry you throughout the presentation making process. Overall, it is a great tool to use in the classroom. Yes, it requires more work than other presentations, but it becomes easier with each use. Your audience will love it!

  1. What I like about Prezi is that you can collaborate on production and you can share in several ways.
